Leave Labuan Bajo in the dark. This is the part people underestimate and the part that makes the rest work.

Compare & Decide
The standard pairing out of Labuan Bajo: Padar at first light, a ranger-led trek on Rinca, and a snorkel stop before the run home. Eleven to twelve hours, door to door.
Book This DayThe Day
A long day built around one fixed constraint: you have to be on the Padar ridge before the sun is properly up.
Leave Labuan Bajo in the dark. This is the part people underestimate and the part that makes the rest work.
Climb the ridge for the three-bay view. The best light is the first twenty to thirty minutes after sunrise.
Register at Loh Buaya and take the medium trek with a licensed ranger, roughly 45–75 minutes.
A reef or beach stop with lunch aboard, then the run back to Labuan Bajo by early evening.
One day works, and it is the most common way people do it. The trade is that everything runs to the boat’s clock — you climb, you trek, you swim, you go.
Split across two days, or folded into a liveaboard, the same stops get room to breathe: a later Rinca start when the light is better for photography, and a snorkel that is not squeezed between two departures.
Ranger fees and park entry should be handled for you, booked through SiOra in advance rather than at the jetty.
Ask explicitly whether park entrance, ranger fee, lunch and snorkel gear are in the price or added later.
December to March the crossing is the weak link. Keep a spare day rather than a fixed one.
Komodo Luxury run this pairing regularly and will tell you which departure actually makes the Padar light.
