Sightings are habitat-driven. Walk where the animals are and the list looks after itself.
Macaques
Forest-edge troops, particularly along the medium and long routes. Noisy, and easier to hear than to spot.
Birds
Over 100 species recorded across the park. Rinca’s mix of savanna, mangrove and forest edge puts a good cross-section within reach of the short loop.

Snakes, and Why You Walk Behind the Ranger
Beyond the dragon, Rinca’s reptile list includes several snake species that matter for safety awareness — the Javan spitting cobra among them — plus water monitors, skinks and geckos.
This is the practical reason for closed shoes and for staying on the marked trail. Your ranger reads the ground continuously; that is most of what the fee buys.
