What Each Window Gives You
The park fee never changes — it is set by government regulation. What changes is sea state, crowds and boat pricing.
April–May
The shoulder worth booking. Post-rain green, settled seas, noticeably quieter than midsummer.
December–March
Wet season. Green scenery and empty trails, with a real chance the crossing is called off on a rough day.
Time of day
Matters more than the month. Early morning beats any season for both heat and animal activity.
The Park Does Not Close
Rinca and the Loh Buaya ranger station operate year-round. There is no seasonal closure, and the entrance fee is flat under PP No. 36/2024 whatever month you arrive.
What the wet season changes is reliability. On a rough day the captain, in consultation with the harbour, may not sail — so build a spare day into a December-to-March itinerary.
